2. Ceramic chair


For a number of my chairs I have chosen to steam bend the wood into two single overlapping sections. This process can be immensely frustrating but also rewarding when you get it right. I tend to have an idea in my head of a rough form or decoration derived from historical or contextual inspiration. I then draw the forms in a loose and rough manor trying to find a harmony of shape from the sweeping down of the legs, to a sweeping gestural motion of the chair seats upwards. Creating a formal link between all the elements of the work
